Why DoveTailed Drawers?

Throughout their lifetimes, kitchen cabinet drawers are opened and closed around seven to ten times each day. That adds up to a staggering 3,500 times per year. It is no wonder that some cabinets and joints can become worn in a seemingly short period of time. This is why it is so important to carefully pick a drawer joint that can withstand the wear and tear of everyday use. After all, the longevity and usability of your cabinets just might depend on what type of joint you choose.

There are many different types of joints out there, including stapled drawer boxes, screwed drawer boxes, and rabbit joints. However, if you want something sturdy that will be worth your money and last for the long term, dovetail joints are the best solution. Dovetail joints are some of the strongest joints used in kitchen cabinetry construction. They are made from interlocking channels with wedge shaped cuts on the ends of the drawer box sides. The wedge shaped cuts are called tails or pins and are extremely durable and resistant to force. Not only are dovetail drawers the highest quality drawers out there, but they are also the most aesthetically attractive and have a clean yet decorative appearance.
